Been reading Sherlock Holmes, the victorian grotesque (and thinking about the hitcher) a country dr's notebook by Bulgakov - not as surreal or satirical as his other work. He was a dr before he became a writer, and this is his lush, bleak style in that genre.

here's a pretty noelly:

I recently read Perfume: the story of a murderer, and lez set in vic era book, Tipping the Velvet. The latter was a bit of a trashy read, but I can't help but love a happy lesliebean ending.
Perfume was a lush modern classic with the beauty of words and scent, and surprise lolincest and you should read it twice, right now.

For people could close their eyes to greatness, to horrors, to beauty...But they could not escape scent. For scent was a brother of breath. Together with breath it entered human beings...And scent entered into their very hearts, and decided for good and all between affection and contempt, disgust and lust, love and hate.

I went to see my mates in a preview of a Wedekind play, it was about adolescent sexuality and ended with a girl begging a boy to spank her with a riding crop, then he punches her. lolol.
'he was a major influence on the development of epic theatre.' haha EPIC.

I am currently lustily infactuated with this band. They're coming to bris in a few weeks.
Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen

Fucking glorious, gypsy pirate cabaret or some crazy shit. 'Formidable Marinade' is my favourite, it's a bloodied, sexy song.

Izzard in 'Igor', the cartoon flick was bleeding beautious. He played an evil scientist with a german accent, who looked like Alan Cummings. You should watch it if you like 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', or Izzard, hobvs.

I was watching the original 30s 'Invisable Man', and one character was called DICK TARD. lolol best ever.

My favourite names in the history of ever:
Marcus Weaver-Hightower (critic)
Hubert Crackenthorpe (vic writer)
Roubidoo Beeman

james tagged me with my fav australian artists. I'll do a big upload post when I'm back but here are the interesting aus ones:

5.
suicide blonde by INXS, fun 90s rock that I grew up with. lol michael why so manly

4.

silverchair were grungy nirvana fanboys in the 90s. this was a song about John's struggle with his eating disorder. more importantly, Johns is a gorgeous fey bitch here.

3.

his voice stays with you, this one is very beautiful and makes you fall in love.

2.

Could have picked Skyhooks for aussie glam but here's 'I like it both ways' by Supernaut, when I watch it I wanna scream like the 70s fangirls

1.

Bris locals, the gin club. This song is my favourite live: gutsy and folksy, good drinking music.

A coupla good 'uns from jjj

We don't walk - paper scissors. paper scissors coming mid july
words - kate miller-heidke channelling kate bush
19 20 20 - grates
middle of the hill - josh pyke

I am actually going to die of the cuteness of Tim Minchin and his wife. waaaah ;_;
I agree with pernickety, it was a bit intimate seeing him shower, or crying about his wife miscarrying. ps fuck you for making me feel surprise maternal at the end, Minchin.
